Bedbug
Cimex lectularius
Color: Mahogany to rusty brown; red after a blood
meal
Legs: Six
Shape: Flat; broad oval
Size: 1/4
Antennae: Yes
Flight: No
Bedbugs get their name because they like to live and
feed in beds.
Habits
Bedbugs like to travel and will hide in suitcases,
boxes and shoes to be near a food supply. They are
elusive, nocturnal creatures. They can hide behind
baseboards, electrical switch plates, picture frames,
even wall paper. They come out at night for a blood
meal.
Habitat
Bedbugs like to hide in small cracks and crevices
close to a human environment. Bedbugs can be detected
often by looking for black tracks on bedding, which are
the Bedbugs' fecal stains. (The stains show up best on
white- or light-colored bedding, and may be more
difficult to see on darker bedding.) They can be found
behind baseboards, wallpaper, upholstery, and in
furniture crevices.
Threats
Although Bedbugs can dine on any warm-blooded animal,
they primarily dine on humans. Bedbugs do not transmit
diseases, but their bites can become red, itchy welts.

Bedbugs can be found in All 50 States |
Steri- Fab is the most effective Bedbug Spray
for Bedbug Control and will get rid of
and kill Bedbugs.

Prevention:
Vacuum suitcases after returning from a vacation. Check
your bed sheets for tell-tale blood spots. Consider
bringing a large plastic trash bag to keep your suitcase
in during hotel stays. Carry a small flashlight to
assist you with quick visual inspections. Never bring
second-hand furniture, especially mattresses and box
springs, into a home without thoroughly examining for
signs of a Bedbug infestation. You might consider
having a pest control professional inspect the furniture
as it is difficult to detect an infestation if you are
untrained. Regularly inspect areas where pets sleep for
signs of Bedbugs. Bedbugs are elusive creatures, so it
is imperative to seek professional pest control help to
address a serious infestation.

Description:
Sterifab is
the only Bedbug Control product registered with EPA that is
a disinfectant,
insecticide, fungicide, germicide, sanitizer, viricide,
deodorant, mildewcide, bactericide as well as bacteriostatic
and fungistatic. Sterifab Bedbug Spray offers a unique
quality in the world of disinfectants: the added benefit of
being both bactericidal and fungicidal, as well as being
bacteriostatic and fungistatic. Sterifab kills bacteria and
fungus and also inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungus
after it dries. This unusual combination is also coupled
with the fact that Sterifab is also an insecticide that will
kill Bedbugs, lice, dust mites, carpet beetles, ticks,
roaches and other insects. Unlike disinfectants that need to
be diluted with water, STERIFAB Bedbug Spray requires no
dilution, is non residual and dries in 15 to 20 minutes and
is undetectable when dry. This ready-to-use Bedbug Control
product can be sprayed on most inanimate surfaces including,
mattresses, pillows, upholstered furniture, drapes, walls,
floors, carpets, ceramics and more. STERIFAB Bedbug Spray
does
NOT contain any perfume, dyes, or harsh solvents. STERIFAB
has become popular in many commercial companies and
government institutions. It is required by many states prior
to the rental of bedding and upholstered furniture. It is
effective against most gram negative and gram positive
bacteria. It kills many types of insects, fungus, mold and
mildew, as well as odor causing bacteria. It is
bacteriostatic and fungistatic on mattresses, sofas and
upholstered chair surfaces. Also, Sterifab Bedbug Spray
will not stain.

MORE ABOUT
BEDBUGS:
Bedbugs are found in homes, apartments,
dorm rooms, hotel rooms, airplanes, public transit
seats, cars and moving vans—pretty much anywhere they
can find a human host. They then attach themselves to
clothing and other belongings and are (unknowingly)
transported to new locations. However, you now have the
power to detect bedbugs in time to prevent bites and
infestation, with Bedbug Alert.
Bedbugs are known to carry at least 27 agents of human
disease, including the drug-resistant bacteria (or
“superbugs”) MRSA and VRE, and even Hepatitis and HIV
(according to the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention journal). Scientists are still working to
determine the threat of transmission. However, there is
no reason to take chances when a detection system this
simple exists.

HOW Bedbug ALERT
WORKS: |
|
The proprietary chemical lure attracts the Bedbugs into
the monitor and traps them faster and more effectively
than other devices
The patented housing is tamper-proof, protective of the
chemical lure, making the product safe to use around
children and pets
The monitor has a clear view window so the user can
easily check to see if Bedbugs have been detected and
trapped – no training required
Can be checked and reinserted and reused easily where
Bedbugs are suspected
Sturdy plastic construction prevents the glue and the
monitor from being crushed while in use
Attracts both adult Bedbugs and 2nd instar nymphs
|
|
|
|

FAQ about
the ClimbUp®
Insect Interceptor, an Environmentally
safe Bedbug and Insect trapping device.
|
 |
How
Big is the Center Well of the
ClimbUp® Bedbug & Insect Monitor?
|
 |
The diameter of the
center well is 4 1/4", so it is
large enough to accommodate the
rolling casters found on many metal
bed legs. The latest addition to the
ClimbUp Bedbug and Insect Monitor
line: ClimbUp XL (Stock# 2024)
Measuring 8 in. wide by 10 in. long
(see quarter in the photo as a size
comparison), it can be used with
larger furniture as an effective
method to monitor Bedbug
infestations. The center well
measures 4 x 6 in. It is available
in boxes of 24. |
|
|
|
 |
Do
I Take the Tape off the ClimbUp® ?
|
 |
No,
do not remove the paper tape. The
paper provides the fibrous surface
for the Bedbugs to climb up. If you
remove it in error, it can be
replaced with paper wound tape
available at your local drugstore. |
|
|
|
 |
Would ClimbUp® Work Better if
Alcohol, Soapy Water or Oil were
Added to Capture Wells?
|
 |
No,
liquids negate the lubricant effect
of the talc. When alcohol or soapy
water evaporates from the wells in a
day or two, Bedbugs will be able to
cross the barrier. When a dust or
lint film forms on the oil, Bedbugs
can walk across the top. Also,
Bedbugs are much easier to see against
the opaque talc surface than in
liquids. |
|
|
|
 |
What Can Be Done if Bed Legs are Too
Big to Fit in ClimbUp®?
|
 |
Spacers or risers can be placed
under legs to elevate legs 1½” over
ClimbUp®. Commercial bed risers are
available and do-it-yourselfers find
that 1½” thick wooden blocks or
slices of 3” diameter PVC pipe work
well. |
|
|
|
 |
How
can ClimbUp® Cracking over Padded
Carpet be Prevented?
|
 |
Distribute the weight of the leg
over the area of the center well by
placing a 3” diameter disk of thin,
rigid material under the ClimbUp®. A
3” dock washer from the local
fastener store works very well. |
|
|
|
 |
Can
Scented Talcum Powder be used to
Re-lubricate ClimbUp® Surface?
|
 |
Yes,
talcum powder is talc. Any talcum
powder will work as lubricant.
Bedbugs appear to be neither attracted
nor repelled by the scents found in
baby talcum powder or body talcum
powder. Cosmetic talc is
sufficiently pure for the purpose of
lubrication. |
|
|
|
 |
What Prevents Bedbugs that have
Climbed Down Bed Leg from Climbing
Back Up Again?
|
 |
Nothing prevents
Bedbugs from climbing back up
again but dispersing Bedbugs
are trying to get away from bed.
Bedbugs only seek a blood meal
about once per week.
